NEW! Felt Ornaments "Van Cat"

These beautiful, handcrafted "Van Cat" ornaments are made by Maral Berberian, an embroidery artist from Aleppo, Syria.  Sold separately, each cat is handmade with high quality Armenian wool, then uniquely embroidered on one side with feline features and decorative embellishments. The Van cat is a distinctive domestic cat found around the Lake Van region of historic (Western) Armenia. Van cats are relatively large, have a chalky white coat, and have blue or amber eyes or often different colored eyes.  Since Syria's 10-year war, thousands of Armenians from Syria have relocated to Armenia and settled in the capital city of Yerevan, where they are engaged in a variety of creative and enterprising businesses.  Copyright 2024 © Homeland Development Initiative Foundation.
